Here’s a roundup of recent headlines of police shootings involving pets and other animals.

• Averted | St. George, UT (05/03/18): Police responding to a domestic disturbance call get attacked by a dog, which is tased and later captured by animal control.

• Attempted | Woodville, FL (05/15/18): Deputy making a house call shoots a family pit bull that he claims bit and lunged at him; the owner, who witnessed the incident, said her dog isn’t aggressive and never made contact with him. No nonlethal weapon or deterrent is used. The dog awaits surgery for its wounded leg.
