
Here’s a roundup of recent headlines of police shootings involving pets and other animals.
Unjustified | Tallahassee, FL (03/31/18): Officer responds to “verbal disturbance” call and shoots a family’s elderly Rottweiler in its yard; the dog is later euthanized due to its injuries. The cop and police department claim the dog “charged towards” him, but the family says the old dog had hip dysplasia and couldn’t “charge” anyone.
(via Dogs Shot by Police | Facebook)Attempted | Mobile, AL (04/05/18): Police responding to a drug call are “forced to shoot” a dog that allegedly attacked them whilst arresting suspects. The dog’s ownership is unclear, but neighbors defended it, calling the shooting unjustified. The dog is receiving medical care.
