Roy Moore is a Christian-fascist (specifically, a Reconstructionist) who was twice removed as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court for violating the law and who lately is in a spot of trouble over his affinity for dating and molesting teenage girls. Janet Porter is an extreme-Right anti-abortion nutjob. It’s only fitting that she would go to bat for Moore, using the sort of brilliant argumentation she and her ilk are renowned for:
“We need to make it clear that there’s a group of non-accusers, that have not accused the judge of any sexual misconduct or anything illegal,” Porter said. She went on to impugn Corfman by questioning whether her history of behavioral problems began after Moore’s alleged actions.
Remarkably, the fact that there are still people out there who haven’t accused Moore of attempting to get into their high-school skirts doesn’t seem to be helping him. Maybe she should point out that, hey, at least Moore didn’t date and fondle teenage boys, amirite?
Also note how she reiterates that ugly argument, so prevalent on the Right, that the accuser’s history has anything to do with the credibility of her allegations against Moore. Last I checked, having a troubled personal life doesn’t preclude someone from being preyed on by a sexual abuser, nor does it discredit them if they later come forward. It’s victim-shaming at its most obvious and odious.
