• Ozark, AL (08/20/17): Officer responding to a fight “felt threatened” when family dog “grabbed the deputy’s pants”, immediately shoots & kills her right in front of her owner and her children, even as one of them was offered to pull the dog off. No attempt at using nonlethal means. Sheriff offers usual excuses.

• Johnstown, NY (08/28/17): Police respond to loose dog report, cop falls over whilst retreating from “growl[ing]” “pit bull”, shoots & kills dog as it “lunges” at him. Owner had 11 prior incidents over a “loose or aggressive dog”.

• Jersey City, NJ (08/31/17): New York cop assisting US Marshals with an arrest kills a dog that “pounced” on him upon entering the suspect’s home, accidentally shooting a marshal in the foot in the process.
