If I didn’t know better, I’d suspect cartoonist Matt Lubchansky has been eavesdropping on the Democratic Party, since his is pretty much how they’re behaving:

WOMAN #2: “Fewer than four in ten say the Democratic Party currently stands for something.” Huh. Seems like something to work on.

MAN #1: [dressed in beach-wear] Wow. Now is not the time for your ideological purity tests! I’m taking a half-day.
The Democrats’ strategy so far has been to oppose Trump and little else. It’s therefore not that surprising that they’ve lost every election since Trump came into office. But hey, I’m sure that trend will reverse itself come the 2018 midterms without a need for any real soul-searching. After all, trying the same strategy over and over again and expecting different results each time is how things eventually work out, right?
I mean, why bother trying to tap into the passions of your largest voter base – the true Left – if you can just court the rural White vote and and try to seduce disgruntled Republicans and any other groups that don’t share your ideals and priorities instead.
